Fortunately, film cameras don't cost so much anymore, since everyone is going digital. If she sticks with it, I'm sure we'll be investing in a DSLR camera at some point. But for now, she's having fun experimenting with her older model Nikon. The nice part is that instead of developing the film, you can just put the pictures on a CD. Then if you want to print any of them, you can look at them first and make sure you really want to print.
We went to the Denver Zoo this past Friday. She took a lot of pictures. Since she's still trying to figure things out with the camera, some of them were blurry, some of them were just ok, and some of them were really good.

However, when you can get a grizzly bear to pose and smile for you? I think you may have a future in photography.

Nice photos! So nice that she found a creative outlet - other than her hair. ;)
My daughter is also a budding photographer. She is taking Photography at school too (now in the second yr), she really likes it, especially the film developing. Her digi photos are very artistic, love 'em!

P.S. All my kids were born in Phoenix, so we used to road trip once a year to Memphis to see Grandma. It gets in your blood. LOL
The sea lion one is great! Smiling bears are kind of scary if you ask me. I think he's trying to fool you into thinking he's harmless. ;p
Was thinking of you this week... Megan has joined the flag corps. I don't think she knows what she's gotten herself into. This should be interesting. :D
Good for her. Precious Youngest had the same type of class and really enjoyed working with film.
